Tiffany has been a volunteer since 2013 and is a member of our 2016 summer staff. Get to know her and the rest of the Libros team in our new series entitled “Staff Wall.”

How do you greet someone where you are from? Have you eaten yet?

What is your morning ritual? Jasmine Green Tea and Pu-erh tea mixed together.

How many languages do you speak? Chinese Cantonese, Spanish, English, and some Russian.

How did you first discover Libros? I walked pass the original location in 2009 but it was closed that day and years after college on the east coast, I was back home and stumbled across its new location on Mariachi Plaza.

What is one hidden gem in Libros Schmibros? Our selection of books on Latin American Studies and Chicano Studies.

What books do you hope to add to the Libros Schmibros collection? Spanish-English dictionaries because we have so many local patrons hoping to improve their English.

How would you describe Mariachi Plaza? Changing. I’m concerned about the new and unannounced developments that our community does not have enough of a say in.

What is your favorite place to grab a meal in Boyle Heights? Across the street from Libros Schmibros, at Yeya’s.

Explain the difference between Boyle Heights and East LA. Boyle Heights is Roosevelt High School, East LA is Garfield High School.

What is the first website you go to in the morning? (Local NPR station 89.3) KPCC is my homepage but I bypass that every morning and shamelessly open a new tab to read up on celebrity gossip.

What songs are on repeat on your Mp3 player right now? “Too Good” by Drake feat. Rihanna, Lemonade by Beyoncé, and the “Hamilton” soundtrack.

What movie is at the top of your Netflix queue? I mostly watch tv shows on Netflix so the new season of “Bojack Horseman.”

Name the book character with whom you most identify: Lady MacBeth

What is the best advice (professional or personal) you’ve ever been given? “Pay attention to your body” as in if you’re exhausted, don’t take on more than you can handle—your physical being can only take so much.

Subject you could wax poetic about/something that fascinates you: Sibling order.

What are your words to live by? In English, “One thing at a time.” In Chinese, “Let’s see how it goes.”
