Libros turns one on Tuesday, July 19th, just one day after the re-opening on Mondays of the LA Public Library system. Libros was opened last year on July 19th to protest Monday closures, due to lack of funding, of the library system. With great joy we anticipate our celebration, this Monday July 18th, as the libraries reopen for regular Monday business. In honor of all this good news Libros will be asking for a buck a book all day Monday (12-6, one to a patron), and giving one free book to every Boyle Heights neighbor who comes by. And (shhh, don’t tell them) we just might take a cake over to the friendly folks at local Benjamin Franklin Public Library to congratulate them on their success. And congratulations to the voters of Los Angeles for their good sense in passing measure L!
