Bikes and Books

This weekend will mark Los Angeles’s second CicLAvia celebration.  Several miles of commuter concrete will be shut down and populated with cyclists from the Greater LA area joining in the community of two-wheel transportation.  This year’s route begins/ends at Hollenbeck Park, in our very own Boyle Heights.  Joining in the festivities, Libros Schmibros will be open from 12-4 for your browsing and purchasing pleasure.

We are located just a few short blocks from the park.  Come visit us and check out the growing collection at our sidewalk sale.  There will be books you’ve read, you want to read, and ones you never knew existed. Literary desires of all genres will be satisfied.

A few tips for Sunday

  1. David: I cannot express how much I enjoyed the film about bicycle riding, presented by the Inglewood Police Dept and others. To say it took me back suggests that I ever left. Suffice it to say, that boy polishing his rear reflector was me or my brother. He wore that much grease in his hair. I went for the crewcut. What a treat!

  2. Nothing to do with this post, David, but it was wonderful hearing you speak and meeting you in Tarzana last night! I plan to visit your shop in the near future!

Here’s my post, where I wrote about the WPA-LA book: http://ellenbloom.blogspot.com/2011/04/los-angeles-1939.html#links

Also, this map book came out recently….almost as good as a Google link to the past that you mentioned last night: http://www.amazon.com/dp/0847833917/ref=pe_113430_19670770_pd_re_dt_t1
